Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum
The Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum is a museum in Phnom Penh, chronicling the Cambodian genocide. The site is a former high school which was used as the notorious Security Prison 21 (S-21) by the Khmer Rouge regime from its rise to power in 1975 to its fall in 1979. Tuol Sleng means “Hill of the Poisonous Trees” or “Strychnine Hill”.
Tuol Sleng was only one of at least 150 execution centers in the country, and as many as 20,000 prisoners there were later killed.
Watching an amazing apsara dancing of Cambodian illustrating the rich culture and art of the people during the Angkor empire regime.
The Choeung Ek Killing Field
Choeung Ek, the site of a former orchard and mass grave of victims of the Khmer Rouge – killed between 1975 and 1979 – about 17 kilometres (11 mi) south of Phnom Penh, Cambodia, is the best-known of the sites known as The Killing Fields, where the Khmer Rouge regime executed over one million people between 1975 and 1979. Mass graves containing 8,895 bodies were discovered at Choeung Ek after the fall of the Khmer Rouge regime. Many of the dead were former political prisoners who were kept by the Khmer Rouge in their Tuol Sleng detention center.

“Great morning with Motogirl”
With just one day to spend in Phnom Penh, I contacted Motogirl Tours to take me around the S21 Prison and Killing Fields.
The lovely Renou collected me from my hotel and whisked me off on the back of her Vespa and gave me a great morning’s trip with background and personal information about life in Cambodia included.
If I had more time there, I would certainly have done more with Motogirls. As a solo female traveler it felt safe and liberating and it was great to connect with a lovely Cambodian woman paving the way for others like her.
Highly recommended way to see various aspects of Phnom Penh and support the girls!

I had visited Phnom Penh before, so I asked the Motogirls to design a custom tour where I could see some less-visited areas outside the city and I also asked them to recommend places where I could take interesting photos. I was delighted with the time and effort that Renou and her team put into designing my tour – they even went out to check out a lot of places for me before I arrived.
I completed a very long tour (10 hours) but I had a fantastic day and really enjoyed the experience. The girls are very good company and they are very knowledgable about the sights and history of the places you visit.
I had been nervous of riding a moto in the Phnom Penh traffic but the girls take safety very seriously and I felt very comfortable, even in heavy traffic. It’s actually great fun to zip around the city and countryside on the bike!
I would highly recommend this tour!
